Officers say 31-year-old Qwaunice Tippitt was arrested Saturday in Lordsburg, New Mexico , 700 miles away from the San Antonio area.

She was found in a gas station parking lot with her five children, who were reportedly kidnapped out of Bexar County by their own mother.

32-year-old Charles Jones was also arrested on kidnapping charges.

State police say he was with Tippitt at the time of her arrest but they did not say where he is from. In the same post, investigators credited an automatic license plate reader in finding their vehicle.

That technology ultimately helped police narrow down a time, location and direction the car was seen.

At this time, it’s unclear if police have started the extradition process for either suspect.

We have reached out to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for more information.

This is a developing story.
