WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — An orange and white tabby kitten was rescued on Monday after an employee at a car wash in southwest Ohio found it hiding near the washing equipment.
The Fayette Regional Humane Society said that the employee located the kitten at Ultimate Shine Car Wash, in Washington Court House, hiding near the turbo blaster section of the tunnel. They added that the kitten was drenched and visibly shaken.
It is believed that the kitten may have taken refuge underneath a vehicle. When the car entered the wash, the turbo blasters likely flushed the kitten out of its hiding spot and into the path of the high-pressure water jets.
"I heard a kitten meowing and followed the sound until I found him. He looked terrified, soaking wet, and shaking, so I brought him inside our main office and began drying him off as quickly as I could," said Kierra Mills, the team lead at the car wash.
After getting dried off, the kitten was taken to FRHS and received a check-up where it was determined it did not have any injuries.
In honor of its hiding spot, the kitten was named "Turbo Rinse."
"This could have ended very differently if not for the attentiveness of the car wash staff," said Brad Adams, FRHS chief humane agent. "It's a reminder to always check under your vehicle, especially if you have cats or kittens on your property."
