Supermarket delivery services will shutdown at San Antonio and Austin locations

The website says paid members would receive a full refund within 30 days for either their monthly or annual subscriptions.

SAN ANTONIO — The supermarket chain, Kroger has decided to end their online delivery services for the San Antonio and Austin locations, according to their website

Kroger opened two years ago to provide customers to sign up for a 30-day free trial where customers could receive free delivery on groceries they ordered online. After their trial they could sign up for a subscription based service called Boost.

"Despite our best efforts, including the support from new customers, learnings from other locations and the incredible work of our associates, these facilities did not meet the benchmarks we set for success," Kroger said in a statement.

When the company opened a location back in 2022 they explained how orders were put together in a futuristic way. Kroger said that after customers put their orders in, robots used 3D grids, known as The Hive, to put the orders together. As the orders neared delivery times, the 'bots' as Kroger refers to them, will retrieve the products and take them to their pick stations to be sorted through for delivery.

The website says paid members will receive a full refund within 30 days for either their monthly or annual subscriptions.

The last day to order online will be May 24 and May 25 will be the last day of delivery.
