La Semana Alegre returns for Fiesta this spring

La Semana Alegre was held since the mid 1970s and ran through 1995.

SAN ANTONIO — A music festival made popular in the 1980s and 90s called La Semana Alegre is relaunching this year, according to a press release.

This two-day event will be held April 25-26 as we near the last few days of Fiesta. On Thursday the event will kick off at 5 p.m. and on Friday at noon when Fiestagoers can continue celebrating after the Battle of Flowers parade. 

The festival will be held at it's original location in Hemifair along featuring plenty of live music and food vendors. On Friday the event will also have free children activities at Hemisfair's Yanaguana Garden. 

 "We invite fiesta lovers from around the city to join us at their newest public park at Hemisfair for two days of fun, music, and memories," said Andres Andujar, Hemisfair CEO.

The release says, festival organizers are releasing a limited number of tickets at 1995 pricing of only $10. The flash sale tickets go on sale today through their website
