LA VERNIA, Texas — A La Vernia man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for child pornography charges, federal authorities said.
Documents from the U.S. Department of Justice said 44-year-old Jacob Wayne Peek was arrested by Wilson County deputies in October 2021 on a charge related to the sexual assault of a child.
During the investigation, detectives found 16,000 files in a folder on Peek's device, 793 of which were determined to be child sexual abuse material. He was transfered to federal custody in March of 2022 and convicted on all four counts in a jury trial in August of 2022.
He was sentenced to 300 months in prison on four counts of receipt of child pornography.
