SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio will soon have its first and only Latin Jazz festival in October.

The first International Latin Jazz & Arts festival is set to take place on the UTSA downtown campus on Oct. 5. Organizers hope it becomes an annual tradition. The festival is set to happen during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

There will be a full lineup of music and performances from noon until 11 p.m. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the music and performance arts programs offered by The Starlite Organization For the Arts.

The event will begin with a Latin Music Symposium for kids age 4 to 11. The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, who have won four Grammy's and are known for their infectious Afro-Caribbean sounds and harmonies, will be headlining the event. Other bands will perform jazz, funk and swing music.

The International Latin Jazz & Arts festival includes free admission. Click here for the full lineup and schedule.
