BCSO: Situation with barricaded suspect ends peacefully in far west Bexar County

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the man faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, and he received medical attention at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said that a domestic disturbance with a barricaded suspect ended peacefully at a home on the far west part of the county on Sunday evening.

An official with BCSO said that deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Star Glade on Saturday, April 9 for a family violence call after a 22-year-old man in the home allegedly assaulted his father and barricaded himself inside the home.

"After several hours of attempting to make contact, deputies departed the scene after determining no threat existed to the neighborhood," BCSO said Sunday. "Earlier this afternoon around 2 pm, BCSO received a call indicating that the same 22-year-old suspect was walking around the same residence with a weapon. The 22-year-old suspect then entered the residence with a weapon and is not evacuating the residence."

Sheriff Javier Salazar said later that a SWAT team and negotiators made contact with the suspect, and said communication broke down "probably due to the ingestion of a narcotic."

Salazar said that a robot was used to determine that the suspect was in the living room and not a threat, and a team entered the home and took him in without incident.

He said the man faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, and he received medical attention at the scene.

This is a developing story.
