'Too intoxicated to even talk to': SAPD officer indefinitely suspended after groping woman, breaking into New Braunfels home, records show

The incident unfolded early in the morning of July 23, 2023.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer was suspended indefinitely without pay after allegedly groping a woman's breast and breaking his way back into the New Braunfels home where it happened after being escorted out last summer.

Suspension records from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) also state Jeremias Duque Jr. consumed several beers and shots leading up to the incident, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and was "too intoxicated to even talk to" when New Braunfels police arrived to the home around 5:40 a.m. on July 23.

A witness told police the woman "looked really uncomfortable" after Duque allegedly touched her, which later resulted in a confrontation between the off-duty officer and others at the residence, according to SAPD records. He reportedly told a witness he could "do whatever he wanted, and later "punched and broke a window at the residence" before reentering saying, "I'm gonna come in, I'm gonna come in."

Duque was transported to a local hospital, where he was allegedly profane toward staff, and acting "irritated" and "agitated."  The woman and the witness declined to press charges.
