Former Kenedy police officer indicted for allegedly assaulting inmate

He's due back in court in mid-February.

SAN ANTONIO — A former Kenedy police officer appeared in court Thursday, where he was indicted by a grand jury after allegedly assaulting a Karnes County jail inmate. 

Zeckio Jacquez was charged with official oppression and assault causing bodily injury. He's accused of attacking the inmate on July 30, 2023, when he allegedly kneed and stomped on the inmate. 

Jacquez is due back in court on Feb. 15. Kenedy city officials confirmed to KENS 5 he is no longer with the police department.
