'Little Italy Restaurant & Pizzeria' is bringing east coast flavor to your dinner plate | Neighborhood Eats

Stouffer’s has nothing on the Visocaro’s lasagna family recipe.

SAN ANTONIO — If you want a warm meal draped in Sicily sizzle – 'Little Italy Restaurant & Pizzeria' should be the next stop on your travel itinerary. Owner Dominick Visocaro is proud to say his restaurant has been in business for 40 years.

“Whenever the customers come over here to the restaurant, I think that they feel like it’s warm and welcoming and it’s family.”

Visocaro always dreamt of being just like his parents.

“...Always in awe of my dad," he said. "I wanted to be just like him.”

Dominick’s parents Victor and Paola Visocaro travelled from Sicily, Italy to New York and opened their restaurants & pizzerias there. But in 1983 - Dominick’s father was looking to expand his dream.

“Back in the early 80’s there weren’t too many Italian restaurants in San Antonio," Dominick said. "There were no franchises. He saw the market here in San Antonio. And San Antonio was small and growing, and booming in the early 80’s so he saw the potential."

That potential now pleasing palates for decades. Especially the ‘Italian Stallion’. This dish is made with spaghetti, with a marinara sauce and has homemade meatballs and homemade Italian sausage.

When it comes to lasagna, Stouffer’s has nothing on the Visocaro’s lasagna family recipe!

"Other restaurants I mean, unfortunately a lot of them are franchises and they’re cookie cutters," Dominick said. "We do things differently here.”
