Local animal nonprofit asks for community's help to raise funds for new building

Bee Pawsitive Husky Rescue is hosting a fundraiser Tuesday evening at The Waggery. There will be games, and companies will be on site to match community donations.

SAN ANTONIO — The local nonprofit foster-based animal rescue, Bee Pawsitive Husky Rescue is looking to open a shelter in Floresville.

The nonprofit has two acres of land, and plans on constructing their first building on the property, but they need the community's help.

"So our first building is going to hold about 18 dogs," said Founder and President of Bee Pawsitive Husky Rescue, Candida Campos.

The non-profit says it's extremely hard to find fosters for them to save, so building the shelter will allow them to save animals.

"There's animals being hit by cars, abused, hoarding situations, and euthanized in the shelters for space, so this is a way for us to help more of our community." said Campos.

To help with the cost of constructing the new building, Bee Pawsitive will be hosting a fundraiser on Apr. 16. The event will be held at The Waggery, located at 1112 S. St. Mary's Street. The event will be held from 6 p.m to 9 p.m.

"We will play games, people can come and donate. They will do matching donations from companies that come, so it's a great way for the community to come and help rescues and shelters that are in need." said Campos.

"We get thousands of messages a day, begging for help. We can't help if we don't have donations. If we don't have the shelter, we can't help other dogs in need.  We want to help our community, so if our community could help us, then we could also help the community as well," said Campos.
