SAN ANTONIO — The head football coach for MacArthur High School has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested for assault.
Benjamin Cook was arrested in Brown County Sunday, October 6.
Cook, 45, bonded out the same day.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in a room of the Comfort Inn in the 200 block of Early Boulevard in Early, Texas.
The arriving officer noted that she could hear screaming coming from inside the room.
A woman who said she had been dating Cook for approximately one year told the officer that Cook assaulted her.
She said that Cook strangled her by placing both of his hands around the front of her throat on two separate occasions.
The officer noted that the woman had injuries on her throat and a contusion on her head, along with abrasions on her arm and elbow.
A spokesperson with NEISD confirmed Cook's arrest, "He will be placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete."
