SAN ANTONIO — A maintenance employee at Cuisine Solutions' food processing facility in San Antonio died Friday after officials believe he suffered a heart attack and was trapped in equipment.
First responders arrived to the 8300 block of Sous Vide Way just before 10 a.m., where they say they tried to revive the worker – later identified as 46-year-old David Mata – before he was pronounced dead. The Bexar County Medical Examiner found he died from blunt head and neck trauma.
In a statement, Cuisine Solutions COO Herve Chignon said it was offering support to Mata's family and coworkers, adding it will continue to "uphold the highest standards of safety at all of our global facilities."
"We are working alongside local authorities and following all OSHA US Department of Labor’s protocols as we assess this incident," Chignon went on to say. "Our thoughts, prayers and support are with the family at this time.”
