Major crash shuts down all southbound traffic on I-35 and Weidner Road for hours

According to officials the closure caused major traffic delays for miles before being cleared around 6 a.m.

SAN ANTONIO — A major crash shut down all southbound lanes on I-35 and Weidner Road for several hours early Saturday morning, officials said 

San Antonio police and fire crews responded to a big accident on the main lanes of IH-35 S and Weidner Road around 2:30 a.m. 

Police did not say what caused the crash but a KENS 5 photographer captured images of a severely damaged SUV on the highway. 

According to officials the closure caused major traffic delays for miles before being cleared around 6 a.m. 

No other information has been provided.
