Man accused of leaving profanity-laced message, threatening to run a school bus driver off the road

Per arrest warrant, Robert Stead reportedly said, "If I see him on the f***** road again, I'll run him off it," referring to the driver of a school van.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — SAN ANTONIO, Tx—Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies arrest a man accused of making a terroristic threat against a local high school.

According to an arrest warrant, 52-year-old Robert Charles Stead, called the Lutheran High School of San Antonio Thursday morning and left a profanity-laced message, accusing a school van driver of driving recklessly.

The recorded message stated in part, “I’m calling to tell you that you got some stupid a**…in a van cutting people off on Babcock Rd., swerving in and out of traffic with kids in the van no less….If I see him on the f***** road again, I’ll run him off it,” according to the arrest warrant.

Deputies said the van mentioned in the message is a passenger van with the school’s name written in magnetic stickers on the doors.

Stead reportedly called back a few hours later and spoke with the school’s receptionist.  Deputies said no other threats were made, but Stead continued to verbally abuse the receptionist while screaming profanity.

Deputies said they researched the phone number of the caller and tracked it to Stead’s business.

On Friday, deputies went to Stead’s home to speak with him, and Stead reportedly refused to speak with deputies, saying “he was only calling to make a complaint about reckless driving,” according to the arrest warrant.

BCSO investigators wrote in the arrest warrant, “Stead threatened to intentionally run a van used to transport children to and from school/church off the road if he observed it on the road again.”

Stead was arrested Friday night and charged with Terroristic Threats.  He has since posted the $7,500 bond and was released from jail the next morning, according to online court records.
