Man arrested for allegedly kidnapping ex at knife and gun point

Investigators say a woman was kidnapped after she dropped her children off at school.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is behind bars after kidnaping his ex-girlfriend and holding her captive at knife and gun point, authorities say.

Investigators say a woman was kidnapped after she dropped her children off at school.

According to an arrest affidavit on October 17 Pedro Esparza pulled up to a stop light in Pleasanton with a gun and demanded the woman get in his vehicle or he'd kill her.

Police say Esparza took her to a elderly relative's home in Leming where he forced the woman to call her father in Floresville.

Esparza forced the woman to tell her father she was getting back together with her ex-boyfriend and that everything was fine, investigators say.

The woman says at one point Esparza took out a knife and threatened to cut her throat. She sustained cuts to her fingers, chin, and cheek.

The arrest affidavit says the couple fought physically and Esparza choked the woman until she couldn't breathe.

Investigators say Esparza later brought the victim to a motel in San Antonio.

The next day Esparza and the woman were in the parking lot of Taco Cabana when the woman told Esparza she was going to get ice but instead she ran for her life, according to the investigators.

Investigators say the woman ran catching the attention of a man who had been in the military. That man brought her inside the restaurant and Esparza drove away.

SAPD caught Esparza on Thursday and arrested him for aggravated kidnapping.

He's in jail with a bond set at $175,000.
