Man claims he accidentally shot and killed his wife at a home on the far west side, BCSO says

When deputies arrived at the location, they found the woman lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head.

SAN ANTONIO — A man told police he accidentally shot and killed his wife at a home on the far west side Wednesday, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. in the 14400 block of Gunsight Pass, near Talley Road and Culebra. When deputies arrived at the location, they found a woman, identified as 66-year-old Magin Hernandez, lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head.

Officials began CPR efforts but Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the residence at the time.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said he did not believe the shooting was accidental and deputies are considering this a "domestic violence-related homicide."

Sheriff Salazar said the man, who has been identified as 64-year-old Dexter Reyes, is in custody on a $200,000 bond and is expected to be charged with murder

This is a developing story and further details will be added as they are received.
