Man critically injured after being shot in head

The man was on his patio near Balcones Heights when a driver pulled up in a dark-colored sedan, said something, then fired off a shot.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was critically injured after he was shot in the head while on his patio near Balcones Heights.

San Antonio Police responded around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of De Chantle Rd near Fredericksburg Rd for reports of a shooting in progress.

Police say the victim, who is in his 40s, was standing on the patio of his apartment when a driver in a dark-colored sedan pulled up, said something, then opened fire hitting him in the head.

The suspect then drove off immediately following the shooting.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

No word on what may have led up to the shooting. No other injureies were reported.

This is an ongoing investigation.
