Man dead after being shot by his wife during struggle with gun, police say

Police say the two struggled with a gun and it discharged, killing the man and injuring his wife.

SAN ANTONIO —  A man is dead after police say he struggled with his wife over a firearm, which discharged killing him and injuring her.

San Antonio Police were called out to the 2400 block of Holly Hill Drive on the east side around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night for reports of a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his body. The victim's wife, 47, was also injured by a gunshot wound to her finger. Police found the gun on the floor of the living room.

According to police, the couple struggled over the gun and during the struggle, the gun discharged hitting both the man and his wife.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by EMS. The victim's wife, the suspect, was taken separately to a local hospital.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No  official word on what the wife is being charged with.
