Man found dead from gunshot wound inside crashed car, police say

Police found some shell casings in the area but don't have any information regarding a suspect on what may have happened.

SAN ANTONIO — A man crashed his car at an apartment complex on the north side of town, and when witnesses tried to help him, they discovered the man had been shot, according to police.

San Antonio Police responded to the Serenity Residences off Wurzbach Road around 4:15 a.m. Sunday for reports of a car accident.

When officers arrived at the location, neighbors told them they had heard a loud crash outside. When the neighbors went to check out what happened, they found a man who had crashed into some small trees near the entrance of the apartment complex. They told police that when they pulled him from the vehicle, they realized that he had been shot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

No other details have been released, but police did say they found some shell casings in the area. No other injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
