SAN ANTONIO — A man is in critical condition after being struck by a driver who did not stop to render aid early Monday morning.
San Antonio Police responded to the 6500 block of Old Highway 90 on the west side of town around 1:18 a.m. for reports of a hit and run accident.
When officers arrived, they found Francisco Aldaco had been clipped by a driver, then thrown into the grassy area next to the street. That driver did not stop.
Aldaco was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses on the scene gave police the license plate number and description of the suspect's vehicle. Police located the vehicle at a Rodeway Inn. and management told officials the room the owner of the car was in.
Johnny Ruiz Jr. admitted that he was driving the vehicle that struck Aldaco. Ruiz stated he knew he had struck something but didn't think it was a pedestrian.
Ruiz is facing a felony charge of fail to stop and render aid-serious bodily injury.
