Man jailed for shooting over noisy nephew, SAPD says

An arrest affidavit says Nathan Villarreal got so mad about his nephew's noise that he grabbed a shotgun and fired it.

SAN ANTONIO — A two-year-old boy suffered injuries to his face after his uncle blasted a shotgun over the child's behavior, San Antonio Police said.

Nathan Villarreal got arrested Monday on charges of deadly conduct and injury to a child. The 25-year-old is out of jail on bonds totaling $25,000.

An arrest affidavit says Villarreal got into an argument with his brother on October 23. The document says he was mad because the child was running around and making too much noise. Police said the brothers argued over the boy's behavior.

An affidavit said Villarreal went upstairs in the home, grabbed a shotgun, and fired from the stairs toward his brother. Police said the buckshot ricocheted, hitting the child in the chin. Investigators said the boy's 26-year-old father got struck in the back.

The two survived the shooting. Villarreal was apprehended nearly two months after the incident.
