Car struck by train after multi-vehicle accident on east side, authorities say

Police said no one was injured.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police and emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle car crash involving a train on the east side Thursday afternoon.

Police said a female driver in a Lexus was attempting to cross the train tracks when the guard rails started coming down. The female driver abruptly stopped and slid.

The female driver was then hit from behind by a black sedan which sent the Lexus across the train tracks. The black sedan stopped and was then struck by a gray Hyundai which resulted in the black sedan getting stuck in the middle of the train tracks, authorities said.

Police said the male driver in the black sedan was unable to move the car out of the way because of the guard rails and jumped out of his car to avoid getting hit by the oncoming train. The black sedan was hit by the train with no one inside.

No one was injured, police said.

No other information was provided.
