SAN ANTONIO — An AC unit fire at a downtown motel sends a man to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
Arson and fire investigators were called to a "suspicious fire" at the Relax Inn located in the 500 block of Roosevelt around 11:19 p.m. Thursday night.
Authorities say the fire seemed to start in an AC unit outside a room at the motel. The man staying in that room was trapped inside. Some people reportedly helped to get him out before the fire department arrived and got him an ambulance.
The victim was taken to the hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation. Damage was minimal and firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly upon arrival.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
