San Antonio police searching for suspect after man shot near VIA bus stop

Authorities said an argument between the two men started on the bus. The bus then made a stop on Zarzamora Street near Merida Street where both men exited.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot after an argument started on a VIA bus Monday afternoon. 

San Antonio police responded to a call for a shooting in progress on or near a bus on Zarzamora St. around 3:30p.m. 

According to police a man in his 30s and another man believed to be his mid-20s were traveling on the same VIA bus heading southbound on Zarzamora St. 

Authorities said the two men were arguing on the bus. The bus then made a stop on Zarzamora St. near Merida St. where both men exited. 

Police said the younger man then shot the older man twice near the bus stop. 

The victim was taken to local hospital in life threating condition. 

Police said officials from VIA are cooperating and have stopped the bus the victim and suspect were traveling on along with another nearby bus in the hopes of gathering surveillance video. 

Witnesses said the suspect may have also jumped onto a nearby bus, police said. 

According to authorities the suspect has not been located. 

Police said the suspect was dressed all in black. 

A nearby SUV was damaged as a result of the shooting. No other injuries were reported. 

Police are still investigating. 

No other information was provided.
