Man shot in stomach at northside apartment complex, police say

Police do not have any suspects at this time. No word on what may have caused the shooting.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot in the stomach at an apartment complex on the north side of town early Thursday morning, police say.

San Antonio Police responded to the Methodist Hospital Emergency Room on De Zavala Rd. around 1:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting victim.

When crews arrived at the hospital, they found a male victim in his early 20s with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach.

Police said that the shooting happened at an apartment complex at the 4900 block of Woodstone Drive near I-10 and Huebner Road. Officials said the victim and a family member had just arrived at the complex and he had gotten out of the car when he was shot.

The family member told police they heard the gunshots and saw the victim running back to the vehicle with a gunshot wound.

That family member then drove the victim to the emergency room at Methodist for treatment. The victim was transferred to University Hospital to be treated at the trauma center.

Police do not have any suspects at this time. No word on what may have caused the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation.

This is a developing story.
