JOURDANTON, Texas — A suspect who evaded Jourdanton authorities for hours after they tried to arrest him for an outstanding warrant Monday afternoon has been caught.
Law enforcement agencies were searching for 29-year-old David Garcia for at least five hours Monday afternoon before the Jourdanton Police Department posted on social media that he was in custody. Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said he was found hiding under a bed in a house he broke into.
Soward said Garcia, a San Antonio resident, was being booked on burglary of habitation and federal weapons charges. Authorities said during the search that he was armed and dangerous, and urged nearby residents to lock their homes and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
The Texas Department of Public Safety, San Antonio police, Texas Highway Patrol, Jourdanton police and others assisted deputies in the search for Garcia.
