'We will catch you' | Medina County Sheriff's Office searching for group randomly shooting at drivers

Sheriff Randy Brown said they are currently investigating 11 incidents where vehicles were shot at by a pellet gun.

MEDINA COUNTY, Texas — The Medina County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a group of people randomly shooting at drivers throughout the county using an air-rifle or BB gun.

Sheriff Randy Brown said they are currently investigating 11 incidents. The first one dates back to November 27. He said no one has been seriously hurt.

Now, Crime Stoppers in Medina County is offering up to $1,000 for information that could lead to an arrest.

“It’s insane, like they’ve already gotten so many people,” Cheyenne Bragg said.

Last Wednesday, Cheyenne Bragg was driving down Highway 132, leaving Devine heading towards Natalia, when she heard a loud noise.

“It sounded like it was like a rock that hit my wheel well,” Bragg said.

Bragg pulled over and realized it was not a rock.

“It was a pellet, and the pellet was still inside of my window,” Bragg said.

She posted about it on Facebook and quickly learned, she was not alone.

“They intentionally are driving around, shooting at random vehicles, doing damage to vehicle, shooting out windows,” Sheriff Brown said.

Brown said it has happened in Natalia, LaCoste and Castroville.

Crystal Aragon was a victim back on December 7. She said she had just picked up her high-schooler from Medina Valley High School and was taking a back road home when her car was hit.

“My two-year-old that was asleep in his car seat started screaming,” Aragon said.

The window next to her two-year-old was completely cracked. Thankfully, she said the glass did not cut him. However, she said she can’t help but think about how much worse it could have been.

“It could’ve shot him in the eye, it could’ve really hurt him,” Aragon said. “I could’ve freaked out, I could’ve hit somebody.”

As far as this group’s motive, the sheriff can’t say. But he is confident he will catch them.

“If you think this is fun in games, you’re not going to be laughing when we catch you and we will catch them and when we do, they’ll be facing serious serious charges,” Sheriff Brown said.

The sheriff said he is not ready to release information about a possible vehicle they are searching for but are reviewing surveillance video in the area.
