Law enforcement officials gather near the First Baptist Church following a shooting on November 5, 2017 in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

The site of the deadly massacre that claimed the lives of 26 people last Sunday has been transformed into a memorial to those whose lives were taken.

The First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs said in a news release Saturday a memorial has been created inside the church’s sanctuary.

Last Sunday, Devin Kelley walked into the church and opened fire just a few minutes after the Sunday service had begun. Kelley shot and killed 26 people and wounded 20 others.

The news release said volunteers have been working all week to create a memorial inside the sanctuary. The memorial will celebrate and pay tribute to the lives that were lost.

The public will be allowed to enter the memorial at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12 and thereafter, the memorial will be open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
