'My fight is not done' | New Braunfels mother reflects on anniversary of daughter's disappearance and arrest made in the case

Gilberto Sepulveda is accused of killing 19-year-old Andreanna Flores.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — It has been one year since a New Braunfels mother of two went missing on the northwest side of San Antonio.

Since then, her ex-boyfriend has been charged with capital murder.

Gilberto Sepulveda is accused of killing 19-year-old Andreanna Flores. Her mother, Andrea Winter said she is looking forward to the day she can face Sepulveda in court to let him know how she feels.

“Why did you take my baby away from me?” Winter said.

She said this past year has been full of heartbreak but she has never given up her fight to get justice for her daughter.

“I talked with the detectives, one of the detectives and he said Andrea, he looked at me and said ‘if it wasn’t for you’,” she said.

On May 18, 2023, Winter said her daughter went to visit the father of their four-month-old, Gilberto Sepulveda at his home in San Antonio. Winter said she was never seen again.

“She didn’t do anything to deserve this,” Winter said.

Winter said all along she had a gut feeling, Sepulveda had something to do with her disappearance. After months of an investigation led by New Braunfels Police, the Comal County District Attorney charged Sepulveda with Capital Murder for killing Flores, among other charges.

His bonds total $813,000. Meanwhile, Winter said she still does not know how exactly her daughter was killed and is waiting for her body.

“We’ll get to have my baby home, soon,” Winter said.

She is now raising her daughter’s two young children. There is GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and with the children.

“She was very gentle with them,” Winter said. “She loved her babies. She was just a beautiful soul.”

Winter said she is hopeful there will be a conviction in the case. She said she was told last week, to expect a trial within 18 months.

“She was in me the whole way of fighting this fight and my fight is not done,” Winter said.

Winter said she wants her daughter’s tragedy to serve as a reminder of the dangers of domestic violence.
