Motorcyclist killed after crashing into driver who turned in front of them, police say

Police say a driver in a silver 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was at the same intersection and turned left in front of the man on the Harley-Davidson.

SAN ANTONIO — A motorcyclist was killed after police say a 75-year-old driver turned left in front of him, causing the man to run into her.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Division Avenue near Pleasanton Road on the south side of town.

Ruby Robles is holding onto physical memories; photographs of her stepdad, Henry Herrera Jr.

“My mom was unaware, she was looking for my stepdad, she didn’t know what happened," Robles said. "We didn't find out until 2a.m."

The victim, 56-year-old Henry Herrera Jr., was riding a black and orange 2011 Harley Davidson traveling east on Division Avenue approaching the intersection of Pleasanton. Police say a 75-year-old woman driving a silver 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was going the same direction and at the same intersection when they turned left onto Pleasanton right in front of the motorcyclist.

Herrera ran into the truck and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Silverado remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation and was not under the influence.

“I just know that we will get justice for him," Robles said. "Regardless of her age. I still think there should be repercussions of killing someone. She’s going to be with her family, and we’re not.”

Police say that no criminal charges are pending.
