New Braunfels PD arrest victim's boyfriend in murder investigation

He had just gotten off the phone at a pool hall right across the street from the New Braunfels Police Department, when murder suspect Nathaniel Fox found himself surrounded. He had been spotted.

New Braunfels police arrested a man Friday evening accusedof killing his girlfriend earlier this week.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nathaniel Nate Fox was arrested in the parking lot of Bob's Billiards just after 6 p.m.

He is accused of killing his girlfriend, 27-year-old Melissa Eason.

The pool hall is directly across the street from the New Braunfels Police Department.

A bartender at Bob's Billiards called 911 after recognizing Fox as he walked in.

Fox quickly left the pool hall, but did not flee as police surrounded the parking lot.

He just stayed in the driveway. He didn't really go anywhere because he saw me on the phone, said bartender Tony Aleman. He knew what I was going to do. Then he told the police he wanted to turn himself in.

New Braunfels detectives had labeled the death suspicious until issuing a murder warrant for Fox Friday afternoon.

Eason was found dead on New Year's Day inside an apartment in the 200 block of East Merriweather Street. The area is now marked with flowers left by loved ones.

Detectives say it appears Eason had been strangled, but at this time the motive behind the murder remains a mystery.

Fox remains in custody at the Comal County Sheriff's Office on $250,000 bond.
