SAN MARCOS, Texas — A new Buc-ee's location planned for Central Texas will rival its largest travel center yet.
Hot off the heels of opening its largest location in Luling, documents reveal Buc-ee's plans to build a similar one 25 miles away in San Marcos.
According to a filing obtained by KVUE, Buc-ee's will begin breaking ground on the 74,000-square-foot travel center in October.
The privately funded facility will cost about $47.2 million and bring 120 fueling stations with it. It's also expected to have anywhere from 100 to 175 charging stations for electric vehicles.
Buc-ee's received tax incentives to build the facility in February. The incentives would provide Buc-ee's with a 50% sales tax rebate from San Marcos and Hays County. The site is expected to generate nearly $6 million in property taxes and more than $3 million in sales taxes over the next 15 years.
The deal would also generate more than $11 million for Hays Consolidated Independent School District.
Buc-ee's expects the travel center to be completed by late 2025.
