CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Due to unpredictable weather at Art Walk in years past, Downtown Management District officials said there will not be any road closures or barricades for the months of January and February, opting instead for a pop-up format.
The barricades and closures will return in March.
"With the somewhat unpredictable weather in the winter, we've switched the format to be focused more on parks and inside businesses to ensure that people have access to the most intensive programming throughout the downtown area," said DMD Executive Director Alyssa Barrera Mason.
The temporary format also serves as a way for residents to enjoy all that the downtown area has to offer.
"We've switched the format for Art Walk for January and February to be in the parks and inside businesses so you can explore the gallery's, the live music, the art installations throughout downtown, and we'll resume those big block parties in March," Barrera-Mason said.
Senior Officer with CCPD Arthur Brown said caution remains the name of the game.
"We want to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings. Be careful and be patient because there's gonna be an increase in traffic, increase in pedestrian activity and we want to remind everyone to be safe and be cautious."
