NISD investigating sexual assault allegation at Boone Elementary School

A spokesperson for the district said the employee under investigation works for Head Start, a federal program.

SAN ANTONIO — Several agencies, including NISD police and the Department of Family and Protective Services, are investigating allegations that two students were sexually assaulted at a Northside ISD elementary school.

NISD spokesman Barry Perez confirmed there are accusations that a Head Start employee assaulted students at Boone Elementary School. “We are cooperating fully with the investigating agencies,” he said. “But this individual is not a NISD employee. This individual was hired by Head Start.”

The Department of Family and Protective Services is handling the investigation, Family Services spokesperson Kathy Glascock said. “Our number one priority is the safety of our children. It is of upmost important to us," she said.

Glascock confirmed the teacher assistant accused of sexually assaulting a student at Boone Elementary in February “was immediately removed from the school and he is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”
