SAN ANTONIO -- The Northside Independent School District (NISD) announced Brian Woods as its lone finalist for superintendent on Tuesday.
Woods, who currently serves as NISD's deputy superintendent for administration, was selected by unanimous vote of the district's Board of Trustees.
The final vote on Woods takes place on May 22 after the state-mandated 21-day waiting period.
It is extremely humbling to be given the privilege to serve the students, parents, taxpayers and staff on Northside ISD, Woods said in a released statement from the district.
Woods began his career in 1992 as a social studies teacher at NISD's Marshall High School, eventually landing at the district's administrative offices in 2006.
In total, 25 candidates applied and six were interviewed for the superintendent position that is occupied by Dr. John Folks until the end of June.
