SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio-area superintendent has been named a finalist for major recognition—the 2019 National Superintendent of the Year.
Brian Woods has served as the highest administrator of Northside ISD – encompassing 120 schools in Leon Valley and northwest San Antonio – since 2012, but he's worked within the district since 1992, according to a release.
He joins fellow superintendents from Indiana, Georgia and Idaho in comprising the final four in the award’s running.
“We have always been proud of Dr. Woods, his leadership and his passion for our students,” NISD Board of Trustees President M’Lissa Chumbley is quoted as saying in the release.
Woods was named the 2018 Texas Superintendent of the Year earlier this year.
