SAN ANTONIO — The National Transportation Safety Board is working with the San Antonio Police Department to investigate a deadly accident involving an electric-powered SUV.
The accident happened Feb. 24 along I-10 East at North Foster Road at around 10:50 p.m. The driver of an electric Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV reportedly crashed into a Honda CRV that was stalled on the highway with no lights. The crash report says the driver of the Honda, Jeffrey Johnson, 56, was taken to the hospital and later died.
The original crash report says the Ford Mustang had its partial-automation feature engaged at the time of the accident.
NTSB also released a preliminary report that states the Ford Mustang was equipped with several advanced driver systems including partial automation capabilities that Ford calls "BlueCruise." NTSB said the Ford Mustang was operating in "BlueCruise" mode before the crash based on data from the vehicle.
The NTSB posted on Twitter/X regarding the release of their preliminary report.
This is a developing story and further updates will be added as they are received.
