SAN ANTONIO — An off-duty Bexar County Sheriff's deputy was struck by a driver while working as a crossing guard in northwest San Antonio, police say.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 10700 block of Wurzbach Road near Vance Jackson Road.

Police are still searching for the suspect that struck the deputy then drove off.

The deputy was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

We reached out to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office and they released this statement:

"An off-duty BCSO Deputy who was working traffic control was struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene. Crew workers rendered aid and called for medical services in the moments after. The deputy is stable and sustained injuries related to the crash."

This is a developing story.
