SAN ANTONIO — We have new details about the death of an inmate at the Bexar County Jail last week.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office tells us 50-year old Paul Sarabia experienced a medical episode likely compounded with substance withdrawal symptoms on Thursday.
He died Friday at University Hospital. The Bexar County Medical Examiner still needs to officially determine Sarabia's cause of death.
Officials with BCSO confirm that this is the eighth death at the Bexar County Jail this year.
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has been notified and Precinct 2 is investigating the death with internal affairs and the Public Integrity Unit.
