SAN ANTONIO — Organizers are gearing up for the annual César E. Chávez March for Justice on Saturday that goes through the west side and downtown San Antonio.
This is the 28th year of the march and it's organized by the César E. Chávez Legacy and Educational Foundation and co-sponsored by the City of San Antonio.
This year’s theme is “Let the Spirit Flourish and Grow,” inspired by a line taken from the Farm Worker Prayer written by César E. Chávez. The Grand Marshal this year is the family of William C. Velásquez Family, a champion of voter rights who founded the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project in 1974 and Southwest Voter Research Institute in 1985.
“It is inspiring to see how the César E. Chávez March for Justice, a longtime San Antonio tradition, has evolved and has been embraced by so many in our community, especially our youth," said César E. Chávez Legacy & Educational Foundation Chairman Ernest Martinez.
