Student with heart for giving back focuses on making her community better | Kids Who Make SA Great

A student with a heart for giving leans into her passion for health and wellness.

SAN ANTONIO — Audrey Harrison is working to change what people think of San Antonio.

“When people think about San Antonio they always think about the food and culture and that’s beautiful, but I wanted to engage with fitness and health, especially mental health for the youth in San Antonio,” Audrey Harrison said.

During her senior year she joined the Mayor's Fitness Council, becoming a community ambassador.

"It really inspires me to give back to my community because of what my community has given to me," Harrison said.

“It was really rewarding, you come out here, you help clean up, and you know you did a good thing because we forget that places like this are homes for animals," Harrison said.  "Getting out here also really helps benefits your mental health as well as your physical health."

Mayor's Fitness Council Coordinator, Andrea Bottiglieri, says Audrey was a natural leader.

“Audrey, she just has that passion about her and immediately when she came into the student ambassador program you can really tell she just wanted to give back," Mayor's Fitness Council Coordinator, Andrea Bottiglieri said.

Giving back while keeping her community clean.

“To me health is money, my dad always says that, and I hope to continue now that I graduated. With projects like this you can take it anywhere," Harrison said.
