SAN ANTONIO — A man is in critical condition after being hit while crossing a highway on the west side, according to police.

At about 5:20 a.m. Saturday morning, a man and woman were attempting to cross the highway in the 7500 block of U.S. Hwy. 90 W. Police say pedestrians are not allowed to cross while in this area.

Police say a driver saw the woman crossing the highway and tried to evade her, not aware that the man was also crossing. The driver hit the man, causing him to be sent to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigation. They will likely not be facing any criminal charges.

The woman is not injured. The man was still in critical condition at last check.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
