'She didn't deserve this' | Family of woman killed in hit-and-run on west side urging driver to come forward

The driver of the SUV fled from the location and did not stop to render aid, according to SAPD.

SAN ANTONIO — One woman has died after being struck by an SUV on the southwest side early Wednesday morning, according to San Antonio Police.

The incident occurred on the 200 block of S. General McMullen at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say a dark colored SUV was traveling south on General McMullen when they struck a person on a bicycle. The bicyclist was a 46-year-old woman pronounced dead at the scene by SAFD.

The driver fled from the location and did not stop to render aid, according to SAPD.

The family is identifying the victim as Noemi Yanez.

“She’s a sister, a mother, an aunt, a grandma, she didn’t deserve this," Her sister, Pat Lopez said.

Pat Lopez said she was woken up to the news Wednesday morning. She said her sister was riding her bike to work when she was struck and killed. She said she saw Yanez yesterday.

“If I would of known it was going to be the last day I was going to see her, I would’ve hugged her," Lopez said.

The victims, son, Nacion Botello said he was at a loss for words after hearing his mother died. He is hoping witnesses come forward to help police catch the driver.

“The family needs some sort of answers so hopefully somebody comes forward," Botello said.

He also hopes drivers are more cautious on the west side.

"Be aware of people that are walking, kids, especially kids, school zones and people riding bikes," Botello said.

Police are still searching for the driver of the SUV and will be charged with failure to stop and render aid.
