One person killed, one in critical condition after argument escalates near bar in Converse area

CONVERSE, Texas — One person was killed and another is in critical condition after an argument escalated to a shooting in a parking lot near Converse.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened in a parking lot in the 8200 block of FM 78 around 1 a.m. Friday. That location is near several businesses including a donut shop, a lounge bar and a restaurant.

Officials said a deputy responding to the scene found a man near a white pickup truck lying face-down on the ground with a gunshot wound. A second man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital. A third victim, a woman, was found with a gunshot wound to her arm. She was taken to the hospital, but should recover from her injuries, officials said.

The man who was killed has been identified as 32-year-old Charles Gunels, officials said.

There is no word yet on if any arrests have been made.
