SAN ANTONIO — A teen piano prodigy with world recognition is in San Antonio sharing his musical gift.
“I think the best thing about piano is self-expression,” said Adrian Romoff. “There are so many different ways you can do things and it’s a very unique way to express oneself.”
Romoff is just 13-years-old, but the ebony and ivory piano keys have been dancing beneath his fingertips for almost ten years.
His skill has mesmerized audiences across the country.
Adrian has performed at Carnegie Hall three times and been featured on an array of television shows including America’s Got Talent and Ellen.
This week he brings his music to San Antonio.
“I’ll be playing Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt”
The compositions will fill the air at the Plaza Club Wednesday night. Adrian is playing at a dinner fundraiser with proceeds helping further his musical career.
Home-schooled so he could pursue his music, Adrian has already graduated high school and even completed a few semesters in college. He accomplished all that while spending hours the piano.
“I probably spend around 5 hours a day practicing,” said Romoff. “Eventually you get used to it and then you realize you have 14 in the day so you still have 9 hours left to do stuff so it’s not much.”
When he’s not tapping the keys Adrian channels his brain power to tackle science and technology centered projects. He even built his own computer.
“To really advance in [the STEM] field you have to be creative and so I think that music really develops that portion,” said Romoff. “They may seem totally unrelated but in some ways especially a few but key ways they complement each other.”
With a promising future in a range of jobs, Adrian is relishing the time he has to be curious and creative while sharing his music with the world.
You can listen to Adrian play at the Plaza Club downtown Wednesday night. Tickets are available at the door for a cash donation of $60. The dinner and recital starts at 6 p.m.
