Police investigating what led to man being cut on arm, leg and hand with a machete

A suspect was detained nearby that was also injured.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating what led to a man being cut multiple times just west of downtown early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 100 block of North Medina Street, near North Frio Street and West Commerce Street, for reports of a cutting around 2:35 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the 45-year-old victim with multiple wounds. Police say he was cut in his leg, his arm and the palm of his hand by a 57-year-old suspect with a machete.

Police say a confrontation between the two men led up to the suspect pulling out a machete a cutting the victim multiple times. He was being evaluated by EMS to determine if he needed to go the hospital.

Officers tell us that the suspect might also be injured. He was detained by police near the scene.

No other injuries were reported.
