Police say cell phone to blame for rollover crash on northside

The woman told officers she dropped her phone on the floor of her car, and crashed into barrier when she tried to retrieve it while driving.

SAN ANTONIO — A cell phone is to blame for a rollover crash on the northside of town, according to police.

San Antonio Police responded to northbound 281 at the Bitters exit around 1:40 a.m. Friday for reports of a rollover crash.

When crews arrived they found a single overturned vehicle on the on the ramp to Highway 281.

The woman told officers she dropped her phone on the floor of her car, and crashed into the barrier on the ramp when she tried to retrieve it while driving.

Officers said the victim, a woman in her 50s, was taken to University Hospital as a precaution. Officials did not say what her injuries were.
