Police say racing may have caused motorcycle crash near Brackenridge Park

Police say a man in his 20s was speeding with two other motorcyclists when a driver in a car crashed into him.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say that racing may have caused a motorcycle crash just north of downtown, near Brackenridge Park, Monday evening.

San Antonio Police were dispatched to Broadway at Funston Place around 9:28 p.m. for reports of a motorcycle crash.

Police say a 24-year-old man was speeding with two other bikes on Broadway when a driver in a red sedan turned left and crashed into him. The victim flew at least 30 yards and was taken to BAMC in critical condition.

The two other motorcyclists were detained by officers for racing. A family member of the injured who showed up to the scene to pick up their belongings was also detained by officers.

The driver of the red sedan was tested for intoxication, but was released. He told officers that he didn't see the motorcyclist. As of right now, no charges have been filed.

This is a developing story.
