This comes ahead of a very important time for traditional mail with the November general election just over a month out.
The workers say they are sounding the alarm on what they call “sub-standard performance and service to their communities.”
To put it frankly, they say they just want better services year-round at post offices.
The group is a part of the American postal workers union who have planned similar demonstrations not only here in San Antonio, but 90 other cities across the us.
Workers attribute the drop in quality due to flaws they claim is in the U.S.P.S.’s plan to modernize facilities.
They want the government to better invest into the postal service.
One of the main problems workers tell us is declining staffing at the same time they’re seeing record numbers of packages handled…with more than 8.5 billion packages processed just this year.
The group plans to rally at 7:30 a.m. at the processing and distribution center on Perrin Beitel Road on the northeast side of town.
